It was a proud day for the Kent U11 Girls High Performance Squad as they received their new county baseball caps from Kent and England’s Tammy Beaumont and Laura Marsh.
Sponsored by St Lawrence College, the 22-strong squad, assembled at Kent CCC Ground Beckenham, ahead of the Royal London Women’s County One Day Championship match Kent Women v Sussex Women, where they also formed the Guard of Honour.
David Sear, coach and manager of the girls said, “It was great that new Kent Captain Tammy Beaumont, who was in the Kent U11s in 2001 & 2002, and Laura Marsh, were able to present the caps to the girls. They are such wonderful role models.
Here are some other messages about the inspirational day:
“It was a very memorable and special day and we loved it. It is fantastic that the Kent players make themselves so accessible to our girls, they are heroes in their eyes.” Kirstie Spence, mother of Jemima, Kent Under 11 Girls Captain.
Our daughter Amy had been looking forward to it for ages and it exceeded all expectations. It was a fantastic, inspiring day. It was a genuinely lovely event and we would all like to pass on our sincere thanks for organising the day. Brian and Sue Watkins (Sandwich Town CC)
Thank you for an incredible day. I felt very proud introducing all of the squad to Tammy and to sit right next to her in the official photo!!! Jemima Spence, Captain of the Kent Under 11s (Tunbridge Wells CC)
“I was so proud to be chosen for the Kent Performance squad, it was a special day with all my team mates and I was really excited when Laura Marsh presented me with my cap. We all got lots of autographs from the Kent players and one day I hope to be playing for Kent...maybe even England!” Olivia Barnes (Whitstable CC)
"It was so exciting to get my cap from Tammy Beaumont! To think she was once a Kent U11 just like us! One day, one of us could be Captain of Kent, just like her!" Ella Lockhart (Tunbridge Wells CC)
“It was the best day of my life so far!!!” Isla McCulloch (Tunbridge Wells CC)
Thanks go to David Sear and the Kent Women for organising such an important and meaningful event for the future of female cricket.
