ECB Pitch Advisor Appointed for Kent
Michael Llong joins Kent Cricket as an ECB Pitch Advisor

We are pleased to announce that Michael Llong has now been appointed as an ECB Pitch Advisor for Kent. Michael will work alongside Tony Leach, the existing Pitch Advisor for the county who has been in post since the Pitch Advisor network was created approximately 14 years ago.

ichael who has previously supported grass roots cricket in Kent by presenting at events such as ‘One Day One Game’, has a wealth of experience as a groundsman having previously held roles at a prestigious Kent golf club and currently holds the role of Head Groundsman at Eltham College, overseeing 70 acres, including 6 cricket squares, rugby and football pitches.

 

Led by the Institute of Groundsmanship, Michael has been through a rigorous training and assessment period spanning two years. Including visits to neighbouring counties and working alongside other ECB Pitch Advisors.

Michael is now able to carry out the in depth ECB Performance Quality Standard (PQS) report that is a prerequisite for clubs entering into the upper echelons of the Kent Cricket League and will also be working with the County Groundsman Association (CGA) to roll out a new tiered reporting system, including both formal and informal inspections to support clubs of all sizes in understanding ways to improve their surfaces.

For those who know their cricketing families, Michael nephew of former Kent all-rounder, Nigel and son of Adrian, Lead Groundsman at The County Ground, Beckenham.
